RDX Update: On Sale in August

There is some RDX information available that is both exciting and a bit disappointing. Let's get the bad new out of the way first and get to the tidbits later. The new official 'on sale date' will be August 10th not July 27th as planned.

Remember that this is an all-new chassis being built on an all new assembly line. As they ramped up to full speed production, some items emerged that needed additional attention. Personally, I'd rather they do it this way, than build something knowing there may be problems ahead.

I promised some new tidbits of information: First of all, this chassis/engine combination has been doing durability testing disguised as a (current) CR-V. At the Transportation Research Center in Ohio, they have a 7.5 mile oval test track. For three weeks straight, stopping only for driver changes and fuel, they ran the RDX drivetrain with no problems.

For the first time in any Acura, they've specified synthetic motor oil, specifically endorsing Mobil 1 or anything meeting the HTO-06 standard. Apparently not all 5W-30 synthetics meet this standard.
