We've had Bart now for about 8
years, we received him at 12 weeks old from a breeder on the Big Island. From the
start I should have known we were in for a unique experience, when our new arrival opened
his mouth to say hi, and no sound came out! |
| That's right, a mute cat!
It seems to run in his family because his father had a muted voice too. He is
perfect in every way otherwise. |

When we were considering a new
cat to keep my (then) 16 year old Siamese cat company, we were looking for a short haired
breed, and decided to get an Abysynian. These elegant and athletic cats are
descendants of the Egyptian cats seen in ancient paintings. |
However, when
Franceen went to a cat show she came home excited about a breed called the Somali.
These cats were the long haired version of the Abby's, and she convinced me that "yes
the hair is long, but they're not like Persians..." |

| As you can see from the
pictures, I have been taken. This cat has LONG hair, ALL over! Bart is our second cat, But I had Jiro for many years before Fran and I met. |
